What hospitals are included. Does it include public & private hospitals? The intention is to include all Australian hospitals, both public and private, and we feel that we have achieved this within the bounds of what constitutes an individual hospital. There are approximately 1200 hospital listings. In some cases hospital groups report on two or more seperate establishments as a single entity. eg. The Mater Public Hospitals in Brisbane and the Royal Melbourne hospital which includes the Royal Park Hospital. There is also some inconsistency among the States in the definition of bush nursing stations and Multi Purpose Services as hospitals. Are Day Surgeries included. Yes. What is included in the Aged Care database. This database includes all Residential high and low care facilities in Australia. Over 3200 listings in total. It also includes some corporate offices. It does not list retirement villages or home care package providers. What sort of information is included on hospitals & Aged Care facilities. To answer this question it would be best to have a look at the samples provided on our Downloads page. How up to date and complete is the information. While we make every effort to ensure that information is as up to date and complete as possible at time of publication we cannot make any guarantees regarding this as we rely on the update details provided by institutions and establishments. We cannot second guess this information. In some cases we are not provided with updated information every year. In these cases, if we also cannot gain information over the internet we have to assume that there have been no changes for that year. The information also becomes less up to date with time from publication date. How long have you been publishing this information The Australian Hospitals and Aged Care Directory was formed as an amalgamation of our previous Australian Hospitals Directory and Aged Care Facilities publications. The first edition of the Hospitals Directory was in 1992. Where does the data come from There are many sources used in formulating the databases. The primary source is the government health authorities and private owner/management groups which we contact directly. We also use internet sources where necessary.

What formats is the database supplied in. The Online databases are available to subscribers and operate within a Web Browser. The CDROM download is supplied in both MSAccess database and MSExcel spreadsheet files. These are data files which require the user to have suitable software available and to have a working knowledge of their software's use. We do not provide technical support for any software. The spreadsheet version is supplied primarily as a means to import the database into database programs other than MSAccess. However, mail merges can be run directly from the spreadsheets. What's the difference between the Online and CDROM databases. The data is the same. However, the format is different as described in the question regarding database formats. The Online database provides only a Keyword search facility on any one field. The output can only be viewed on screen or printed. It acnnot be downloaded. The CDROM files can be used in any way in which the user's software is capable. Can the databases be used on a network or loaded onto more than one computer. The basic list pricing provides a Single User Licence only (one computer only). We can quote on multi-user and network licences.
